POST-VACATION GLOW
Still have that post-vacation glow.
It’s not the tan, it’s the attitude. Or lack of one. I didn’t even complain about the Britney Spears story in the 5:30 news on Wednesday.
That, of course, will change. Probably soon. Like during the Thursday snowstorm.
The reason I have that post-vacation glow is that it was an awfully good vacation, thanks to the Dearly Beloved.
As a flight attendant, she calls on her own knowledge of the destination, the word of others she trusts, and a lot of research. She’s particularly fond of tripadvisor.com as a tool for looking into hotels and resorts.
We are incredibly lucky that her job affords us the travel benefits it does (and she earns each and every one of them), and we use them as often as we can. We are also incredibly lucky that we can afford to stay at some lovely places, and this time, she really hit the jackpot.
We sampled the Riviera Maya in Mexico. We hadn’t been there since Cancun was a brand new resort town in the early 80s. Cancun has developed a well-deserved reputation as a party town for kids on spring break. It is now huge, and probably over-developed, though I’m sure that won’t stop even more development. Still, we stayed at a nice place and had a good time. The fresh fish was fabulous, especially when washed down with a nice Pinot Grigio. (I can drink white wine now that I’ve discovered Nexium, the greatest drug ever invented.)
From Cancun, we moved about 30 miles south to Puerto Morelos. Before I left, I saw a Corona
beer commercial and thought, “wouldn’t that be soooo nice.”
We found the Corona beer commercial in Puerto Morelos. A quiet, gorgeous place called Ceiba Del Mar. Pricey, but the Dearly Beloved got a great deal. The only thing missing from the Corona beer commercial was the Corona beer. They serve Modelo. Good enough. If you have the time and the means, you may want to put this place on your travel wish list.
So that’s why I have this post-vacation glow. I’m hoping to hang on to it from the time I fill up the snowblower in the morning, until I brush the car off after the 11pm news.

I don't know about that.

We missed you, and your travel itinerary sounds so perfect. Welcome back.....to winter. But also to so many of us who missed you! A double edged sword.
Welcome back!
But please, no Britney.
Ahhhh....Nexium! The wonder drug! I allows you to enjoy that white wine and me to enjoy all the other wonderful flavors of Mexico. After reading this, and looking out the window at about 6-inches of snow and it's still coming...yep, I'm thinking a trip south of the border is in order (and I don't mean to New Rochelle. :) )
Where was Ryan Hanrahan during the storm coverage?
Gerry, I am glad you had a nice vacation.. But Please I can't stand to hear anymore about britney!
Hello all,
That post-vacation glow is very, very gone after today.
That means my total disdain for anything Britney is back.
Ryan Hanrahan was not with us because he was under the weather, so to speak.
And Beckie: go, girl, go! (And don't forget the Nexium.)
