SNOW JOB
When I was a kid, I walked 5 miles to school every day…UPHILL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS…in blinding snowstorms.
Not really, but what was with the cancellations and early dismissals that came in Tuesday for…what…a DUSTING?
Is this what it’s come to? We run for cover at the mere mention of snow?
Yes, I know Brad said we’d get an inch or two, but even THAT is worth canceling an event for?
Weather is, of course, a shared event. Few things affect us all more than the weather.
And when there’s rough weather coming, you watch more television news.
Thank you.
But THIS? This was the radar at 5pm. A touch of precipitation on the Eastern corners of the state…and on the way out.
Actually, what snow we had was rather pretty coming down.
Sometimes…snow is meant to be enjoyed.

It's all about liability, Gerry. Sad.
Not sad - the Patriots are in the Super Bowl - again! ;) Glad to read that you had a good time Sunday.
What a shame that's what it's come to.
And I do believe I'll be in front of the TV set the next time the Pats play.
I think it was all do the the whole bus situation that happened a few weeks ago here in waterbury. My niece was stuck on the bus for 7 hours! But I do think yesterdays cancellations were truly uncalled for.
In the interest of fairness, I want to point out that I rejected one comment that complained of weather hype, and ratings.
As I pointed out, when there's bad weather in the forecast, people do watch more, and yes, ratings for all the stations go up.
EVERY station has gone over the top promoting its weather coverage from time to time, and now it's de rigeur for some stations to promote they DON'T hype the weather which is, in effect, hyping their weather coverage.
In THIS particular case, Brad matter-of-factly predicted an inch or two, and even he thought the delays/cancellations were nuts.
I am not a big fan of this "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" Doppler Radar.
No offense to the Weather people but sometimes when people in Connecticut hear the "S" word they panic.
Oh my god I am going to be stuck in the house or 3 weeks . I need bread , milk , water, eggs.
This is New England folks, suck it up.
Gerry got a question. Why does the local news in Connecticut have "Breaking News" for a Fire in East Bugtugsel Texas?
Is my house in Connecticut in danger of burning down?
Just gets me wondering is all.
Anon, let's go down the list.
*Radar is radar. We dropped the "Super" part years ago. Thank God.
*Panic may be overstating it, though many get, shall we say, "anxious." Why? I dunno, unless they have a flight planned.
*Generally agree on the "Breaking News" question. Makes me wonder too. Breaking news is like porn. Can't define it, but I know it when I see it.
