GLOW GONE

That post-vacation glow didn’t slowly fade away.
It was beaten out of me. Like taking a juiced-up Roger Clemens fastball off the side of the head. (But that’s a subject for another day.)

I was one of the lucky thousands to spend hour after hour on I-84 during Thursday’s storm.
My commute is usually 20-25 minutes.
I left the house at 12:45 for a 4pm newscast. I got to the station at 3:58 for that 4pm newscast. Hands down, my worst commute ever.

I know, I know. Nobody cares about the labor pains, they just want to see the baby.
I just need a quick vent.
Ahhh...that's better.

Thanks for taking the time to post to your blog after a very long day for you. Once again, it started off my day with a smile. My daughter up at UCONN watched another station in the morning (I know, shame on her!) They gave a completely different start time for the storm, so she decided to drive to West Hartford to work. Needless to say, her normal 40 minute commute back to school took almost 4 hours. I told her to make sure she watches NBC30 next time! Everyone did a fantastic job covering the storm. I hope Ryan is feeling better!

Let's hope this wasn't a sign of a verrrrry long winter.
I hope to watch the next storm...though my living room window...with an adult beverage in hand.

Gerry, this is Peter on Saturday morning, a morning when "our" storm seems to have a track that will lead to a mixed bag of awfulness. It'll be fun watching the Pats, though...adult beverage in hand. But I had to say this...when you walked into the studio after your too long highway adventure, the look on your face was priceless. I almost split my side with laughter. I know sitting on the highway and getting almost nowhere is really tough, but THAT look? Priceless! A Gerryism. Thanks...have a great weekend.

Anon...Keisha's off. I assume you're referring to Yvonne Nava, who has just joined us.

And Peter...the look on my face was intentional. But I really wanted to say, "If you go out on the highways, you're &#%!* crazy."

Gerry, you've gained a new fan. I was watching when you arrived from your highway fiasco, and your reaction was just priceless! I stumbled upon your blog after reading Lisa's Baby Blog - I'm a sucker for babies - and got absolutely hooked. You have a wicked sense of humor, and kept me entertained for a nice little while with your edgy commentary. I've lived in CT for 17 years, and watched occasionally, more often opting for your counterparts at Ch 4 in NYC where I work. But I'm now officially a Gerry Brooks fan, committed to NBC30. :)

Most people "stumble" upon you, don't they? Just kidding. We're not going out today! We're stocked with food and beverages aplenty because when it sleets, which it is right now in Farmington, rather heavily, it's easier on a Sunday to just enjoy the day, maybe use the fireplace again, and watch the Pats chew up the Jets. The Pats' motivation is there! And it should be an ugly weather mess on the field, and with a 1PM start time, it is sure to be 25 degrees or less! Enjoy!!

It sounds like everyone had the same commute time on Thursday. 4-5 hours. It was crazy. I was driving in what I thought was the right hand lane on I91 in Rocky Hill. NOT! people were passing me by like it was springtime.

Oh well that it part of living in New England.

How many more days till Spring Training.

By the way I had a feeling Keisha was on vacation. I think I would miss her if she wasn't on in the morning. Makes my day.

Not taking anything away from Yvonne mind you.

Oh Gerry do you think Paul with his new convertible is driving around with the top down now?
