THE CURE
Dear Pats Fans,Just back from Cape Cod, where I watched the game with family.
Still feeling down?
Here's a sure cure. Listen to WEEI (Boston sports talk radio) for 2-and-a-half hours straight, just like I did on the way home.
You'll hear so many people who are far more depressed than you (or me), that things will seem brighter.
Sure, it takes a little while. But after listening to the 78th caller who sounds like he or she wants to jump, who calls for Belichick's replacement, who says the Giants got all the breaks, I promise you'll feel a lot better.
You can find WEEI at 850 AM (Boston), 103.7 FM (Providence), or 105.5 FM (Springfield). The latter two are your best bets.
Yours in better mental health,
Gerry

Rest assured that this Pats' fan did not jump, slit her wrists or swallow handfuls of pills. Maybe a little teardrop into the Sam Adams. They still had a great year, but had the bad fortune to have the offensive line decide to take the day off.
I console myself with the knowledge that pitchers and catchers report in 10 days. Love my Pats, but for now, Go Sox!!
I would have loved to see the Pats go perfect.
But (in a sports context) I'll never be as low as the '86 Sox brought me, and I'll never be as high as the '04 Sox brought me.
In the end, Boston's still a baseball town.
So we've got pitchers and catchers around the corner...and I'm a Celtics guy, too.
Used to be a big Celt's fan when we lived in MA - since moving to CT in 1990, we've lost track of them. Live far west enough that we can't get NESN packages. Get our Sox fixes via radio (!!) and on TV when they play that team in the Bronx. At least we do get to see Pats' games.
No doubt that '86 was a stunner. My poor father-in-law actually had a heart attack after that debacle. When they won in '04 we put a Sox championship cap on his grave. I'm sure it made him happy!
Well, here's even better news if you missed it: Glenn Geffner has departed the Sox radio booth. He was awful.
Outstanding!!! I wish Gil Santos would do baseball - he's the gold standard (and a lifelong friend of my dad - who got to try on one of Gil's Pats' SB rings when the 2 of them attended an event together - serious thrill!)
