SEX, POLITICS AND TIMING

I think Brokaw went to bed, and I can only take so much Matthews, so I'm shutting off the TV and wrapping up Super Tuesday with my two top not-very-political observations.

In Connecticut's rush to be a player, we jumped in with the Super Tuesday crowd, and attracted a fair amount of attention, including significant appearances this week by Obama, Clinton and McCain.

But with the Democratic race so close, WHAT IF we had kept early March as our primary date?

Little ol' Connecticut wants attention? If we held the primaries on March 4th, we would have been in the company of just two "big" states, Texas and Ohio, and our wee friends Rhode Island and Vermont.

THAT would have gotten us more than a "fair" amount of attention, but nooooo...we couldn't wait. C'est la vie.

And speaking of attention, this caught mine while watching coverage on all the different monitors in the newsroom: WCTX (Ch.9 on cable) running an ad for a phone sex service while streaming primary results at the bottom of the screen.

Write your own punch line.

Poor Tweety - will he ever get through a single exchange without talking over, through, and above his guest? Makes him look like a boob.

I agree with your assessment of the move to Feb 5. In our rush to be "relevant" we became just another one of the bunch. That's what happens when candidates seeks coronation rather than election. As for the sex ad - what's unusual about that? You can't have good, juicy politics without a little sex thrown in... don't think I need to name names!

That ain't happenin' either. Just want the results, and that's it. I was probably on MSNBC out of Peacock loyalty.

By the way, are you Mike, Mickey, Davy or Peter?
