YA GOTTA BELIEVE!!!
We have a wonderfully diverse crew here at NBC 30.I'm talking baseball, by the way.
For instance, in the sports dungeon you'll find a Yankee fan (producer Don Laviano), a Red Sox fan (Mike Ratte), and a Met fan (Kevin Nathan).
All of us rooting for the "local" teams are revving up for the playoffs, but we're a little concerned today for the health and well-being of our Mets brethren: Kevin, reporter Sean Phillips, ace director Michael Wright, news photographer Dan Lee and chief engineer Keith Barbaria.
With Thursday night's loss, combined with the Phillies' win, the Mets have managed to do what no team has ever done before: blow a 7 game lead with 17 games remaining.
The Mets and Phils are tied for first, and it appears it will come down to finish first or go home.
I visited with Kevin last night after the games. I asked how he was doing.
If I recall correctly, I think he told me to make mad passionate love. With myself.
Or something like that.
Take heart, Kev...buck up, Sean, Michael, Danny and Keith.
Hey, I survived '78, '86, and '03.
You'll be OK.
Oh, the irony of a Red Sox guy consoling Met fans.
And it should be a fun weekend of baseball. Depending, of course, on your definition of fun.
There's an old bottle of Tums in my desk if you need 'em.
And no matter which team you root for, have a good weekend

I should probably inform you of one more thing you do not know about me.
I was raised a Mets fan.
Yes, I met my hero Keith Hernandez when I was 9 and used to do the Tuffle shuffle everytime I was up to bat in Little League.
But, when I learned what real baseball was, I found the Yankees.
Help me, people!
I have to WORK with this woman!!!
Be nice, Gerry. I can post in your blog, as you.
I can turn you into a Yankees fan with just a few clicks.
Michele is a goddess.
That is much nicer than what you call me in e-mails when your blog is not working.
Poor Tim Teufel. I hope his parents don't read this blog.
I was going to correct Michele's spelling on Teufel, but now I'm afraid she'll beat me up.
Come to think of it...
poor pedro...a 78 mph fastball on the shelf for october...
no need to talk about the collpase of '78 anymore...
Classic comments!!!
